you are still encouraged to volunteer with AB in the fall, but something i was thinking about doing this summer is tutoring here: http://www.826la.com/about/
I made out with someone in the Haunted Mansion this year! It was totally something I'd always thought about.
Were we twins separated at birth? Sometimes when I read your blog I freak out, we're so similar.
Publish an essay.
Hey! Yay for 30 before 30 lists! (Want me to link to you from mine?) You should MOST DEFINITELY take an improv class. Improv literally changed my life.
Georgia!
*seriously - i have tickets for like 8 to the Magic Castle...
*uni is good if it is really fresh! Try a good japanese market like Mitsuwa, cheaper and fresher.
*I don't like Bloody Mary's either and I keep trying. YUCK.
Hey! Make out at the haunted mansion is on my list too! Convenient! ;) ;) ;)
i JUST WROTE ABOUT THIS A FEW DAYS AGO ON MY BLOG! And reading your list inspired me to add a few things! love it.
what's uni? happy birthday again, girlie.
Go on a vacation to Koh Samui in Thailand - then you knock two off your list: Swim in clear water AND vacation outside California...
Great post, Ive been enjoying reading your Blog!
Happy birthday! Looks like you had a great one.
I'm with you on the training yourself to like bloody marys thing (in my case it's also martinis). What's up with wanting to like things we don't like? We are weird.
Judy - I forgot about AB! Yes, that would be very worthwhile! 826 sounds awesome too, but I don't how much help I could offer a kid, seeing as how apostrophe s's confuse the shit out of me and all.
Lindsay - Yes!!! Truthfully, I'll make out with a dude anywhere at this point, but the Haunted Mansion seems like a good place to aim for later in the year. Haha.
Amy - I would love to do that. I'm slowly learning where to submit and that sort of thing, but it seems so daunting.
Naked Redhead - I would love to link! Truthfully, I couldn't think of 30 things, so I'm just going to have to pretend I'm 23 or whatever. I've always wanted to take an improv class, and now that I hear it changed your life, fuck yes!
Rose - No way. Lets freaking go. And uni, I'll try it your way. Sounds cheap and less daunting.
Scribbler - Huh...whaddya know!
Chelsea - I might just "borrow" a few of your points then! Yay for not-yet-30!
Adriana - Uni is Sea Urchin roe, which you usually get at a sushi bar. It's supposed to have an, um, "interesting" texture that makes some people a little grossed out. I'm very curious.
Teish - I can't tell you how much I'm dying to go to Thailand. If my year turns out that way, I'll be very, very happy.
Diary - Thank you darling!
That is funny that we both insist on making ourselves like things we don't. I don't know why I can't just accept the fact that I HATE tomatoe juice. Maybe it's cause I'm jealous that my friends can relax with a bloody mary at brunch, and I'm stuck with a boring mimosa.
As for martinis: I can only drink one in a night (not every night, obvs) and it has to be a dirty vodka martini. Also, I ask for it in a tumblr, instead of a martini glass, which a friend calls a "table on a stick". So true.
As for attempting to run a half marathon, I will quote Yoda: "There is no try, only do or do not."
I will let you know next time I'm going to Disneyland (wink). You should go for Gay Days in october (I'll be there with my brother, and all his gay friends. It's fun.) Then we could make out on the haunted mansion, and you could punch me because you're not that kind of girl.
Or don't punch me, whatever.
There is an abandoned military compound of some sort at the top of the hill behind my house. Last time I tried to go explore there, I got lost, and got poison oak... it was totally worth it.
What I want to do before my next birthday.... learn how to make a painting that doesn't look like shit.
Come to think of it, not being punched would probably be more enjoyable.
i didn't know uni = sea urchin roe, which i've totally had before and was absolutely fucking disgusting.
As my next birthday is in less than a month, I think the only goal I can reasonably state is: GET MY DAMN CLOSET CLEANED OUT.
But the list for Before Turning 40? Is very long. We're talking Santa At The Orphanage long.
Good luck with your list!

I want to get certified in scuba diving! I just got back from Mexico and snorkeling was awesome but I wanted to go down deeper and see what was going on.
Happy Birthday, it looks like you had a fabulous day:)
(L-O-V-E your dress in these pictures).
-Camping? = Awesomeness.
-Clear water swimming? = Just did it on vacation last week!
-Drive-in movies? = the SHIT. They closed the one near my house. I was so sad.
I turn 30 next January. I hope to be Scuba certified by then. My parents are big into diving, they just took us on a vacation to Mexico last week and I was sure I was scared of big bodies of water...but, the more I snorkeled, the more I was like a fish. So, there you have it. Scuba certification before 30 would be nice. Maybe take up rock climbing too. Always wanted to do that for some reason. AND, last but not least...final enroll in culinary school. I move in 3 months to go to school so enrolling might be a good idea.
PS - I LOOOOVE your dress and belt! So damn cute!
Just found your blog via the inspired martini video you made. I love the idea of this list. I'll turn 30 next June and feel very "dun dun dahhhh" about it. Perhaps having a few goals might make the transition a bit easier to stomach ;0
